Daimler-Benz, of course, remained steadfast in his approach to the role of the new SL. There was neither a 190SL 300SL. It was a tour of high-performance sports car with superior handling characteristics, the two passengers plus luggage were in style, comfort and above all safety wear. It was a Mercedes Benz to a large extent on their own. To show the sports side, Uhlenhaut, always available for a quick blast around a race track, the 230SL pushed by a 1.5 km loop circuit near Montreux, in the presence of the press.
